Full and partial rewires

Bespoke full and partial rewires planned room by room

Client-specific rewire planning for homes, rental properties, refurbishments and future-ready electrical upgrades, with scope built around the property rather than a generic package.

Service overview

A rewire is a major electrical project and should be planned around how the property will be used. VLV Electrical Ltd provides bespoke rewire packages only, shaped around the layout, access, finish expectations, room use, future electrical demand and agreed component choices.

Technical and compliance considerations

  • Rewire work should be designed, installed, inspected and tested by competent persons.
  • Domestic electrical work may involve Building Regulations Part P requirements where applicable.
  • The current edition of BS 7671, BS 5839-6 where relevant, manufacturer instructions and applicable Building Regulations should be considered.
  • Final scope depends on the existing installation condition, access, agreed finish, property-specific electrical setup and any defects found during assessment.
  • Customer-facing wording must not provide DIY wiring instructions.

Bespoke Rewire Packages Built Around the Client

Rewire quotes are client-specific and property-specific. VLV does not sell generic one-size-fits-all rewire packages. Each rewire is planned around property layout, client requirements, finish level, access, room use, future plans and electrical demand. The aim is to set the property up exactly as the client requires, rather than simply replacing old wiring like-for-like.

Room-by-Room Electrical Planning

VLV can plan socket layouts, lighting design, switching, USB sockets, kitchen appliances, smoke, heat and CO alarms, bathroom fans, external lighting, data points, EV future provision, garden or outbuilding supplies, smart home infrastructure and future energy provision.

Quality Components and Future-Ready Planning

VLV rewires are not positioned as the cheapest option and do not aim to use the cheapest brittle components. The focus is a higher-quality, compliance-led installation using reliable component choices and clear documentation. Hager electrical accessories and components are commonly used as part of VLV's standard quality approach where suitable. JCC anti-glare downlights are preferred for downlight installations where suitable. Luceco external lighting is commonly used for external lighting installations where suitable. Aico smoke, heat and carbon monoxide alarms are commonly used where suitable.

Not the Cheapest - Designed to Be Done Properly

VLV's rewire work is aimed at clients who want the installation planned properly. The quote should reflect the final agreed specification, component choices, installation method, access, finish requirements and certification. Cheaper rewires may omit useful planning, future provision, quality accessories or clear documentation.

Smoke, Heat and CO Alarm Provision During Rewires

Fire detection is considered as part of VLV's rewire planning. VLV commonly installs Aico smoke, heat and carbon monoxide alarms where suitable. On rewires, smoke, heat and CO alarm systems are normally planned as part of the overall electrical design rather than treated as an afterthought. Where suitable, alarms are installed on their own dedicated electrical circuit. Alarm positioning and type depend on property layout, room use, fuel-burning appliances, escape routes and applicable requirements. Interlinked alarms may be specified where required or appropriate, with final design subject to assessment, agreed scope, BS 5839-6 where relevant, Building Regulations where applicable, manufacturer instructions and the current edition of BS 7671 where relevant.
