EICR advice

EICR C1, C2, C3 and FI explained

Plain-English explanation of common EICR observation codes and why context matters.

This is general customer guidance only. Electrical work, testing, certification and pricing must be reviewed by VLV Electrical Ltd.

Classification codes

C1 means danger present. C2 means potentially dangerous. C3 is an improvement recommendation. FI means further investigation is required or recommended to determine the condition.

Why context matters

Observation codes should be reviewed with the report limitations, installation condition and inspector judgement. Do not assume the outcome from a generic example.

Frequently asked questions

Does C3 make a report unsatisfactory?

C3 observations are improvement recommendations and do not normally make an EICR unsatisfactory on their own.
